Light BulbThe Justice Management Institute is always excited to collaborate on new initiatives to improve justice systems.

JMI has worked with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation on three innovative projects in the field of criminal justice:

  • The Safety and Justice Challenge to (1) sustainably and safely reduce the use of jails; (2) reduce racial and ethnic disparities that exist in the justice system; and (3) generate and model practical and credible new approaches to local crime control—notably those that use incarceration fairly, only when necessary, and that include a range of effective alternatives, as part of a balanced set of responses to crime.
  • High-Functioning Criminal Justice Systems aimed at studying creative approaches to reduce reliance on jails.
  • Models for Change which promoted evidence-based and outcomes-driven juvenile justice improvement across the country.
