- The 2011 recipient of JMI’s Ernest C. Friesen Award is Bob Wessels, who recently retired after serving for more than 30 years as Court Manager of the Harris County Criminal Courts at Law. The award was presented to Bob in September, at a meeting in Chicago of the Urban Court Managers Network.
- JMI launched a new video series, called the Practitioner’s Perspective. These short videos offer insight from the practitioners involved in the design, implementation, and operation of promising practices in the criminal justice system and the adjudication field.
- Sponsored by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, JMI's recent webinar on Managing the CSI Effect has been posted to the JMI website. This webinar looks at some of the things prosecutors should consider and steps they can take to manage expectations raised by fictionalized accounts of forensics evidence in real-world criminal practice.
- With funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), JMI created the first-ever network of Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils designed to help local jurisdictions tackle their most pressing systemic issues and was recently featured in a BJA newsletter.
