Marea Beeman

Marea Beeman, Senior Project Manager, joined the JMI team in the spring of 2011. Marea comes to JMI from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University where she was Project Manager for the Executive Session for State Court Leaders from 2008-2011 and for the Executive Session on Human Rights Commissions and Criminal Justice from 2005-2008. With the Executive Session for State Court Leaders, Marea worked with members to develop a series of forthcoming papers on multiple topics including court governance, court leadership, juror use of social media, and judicial budgeting in times of economic crisis. Prior to Harvard, she spent 16 years at The Spangenberg Group working to improve indigent defense systems through research and technical assistance. A self-professed criminal justice junkie, she strives to tackle criminal justice issues from a system-wide perspective. Marea graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. from the New England School of Law. Marea will be working primarily on the Smarter Sentencing Initiative and the Rural Court Information Network, as well as various other research and education projects.
