Publications
JMI’s publications come from four sources: (1) research, (2) education and training
programs, (3) technical assistance, and (4) program evaluations. JMI conducts research,
independently and in collaboration with other organizations, on the operation of courts
and justice system agencies. Seeking to broaden the base of knowledge about the operations
and effectiveness of courts and other institutions, JMI's research focuses on uncovering
what works, and why, in different justice system environments. The research is
action-oriented, designed to develop knowledge, information, and analytic approaches
that can be used in education, training, and technical assistance activities focused
on justice system improvement. The other sources of JMI publications are education
and training programs, technical assistance projects and program evaluations.
While these are generally specific to one jurisdiction, they often provide insights
valuable to other jurisdictions and contribute to the general understanding of our
justice systems. The products of JMI's research are incorporated into project reports
for our clients and for leading justice journals.
