The Justice Management Institute (JMI) was created in 1993 at a meeting of fifty national leaders in justice
system administration. They had a common vision: an independent, non-profit organization able to dedicate
a wide range of resources, disciplines, and techniques to improving the administration of justice. JMI was
created to achieve this vision.
Since its inception, JMI has been able to marshal an exceptional professional staff, Board of Directors,
and expert consultant network to achieve this vision. These resources provide a solid understanding of court
operations capable of addressing a wide variety of justice system issues. JMI engages in collaboration and
innovative thinking to produce jurisdiction-specific results.
JMI's work takes the form of original research, direct technical assistance, workshops, professional
publications and seminars, and other continuing education programs. This unusual combination of resources,
collaboration, innovation, and custom work products has earned JMI an unequaled reputation for excellence
as a partner in justice system improvement.
